NEW - Cytogam IVIG Trial to Prevent Congenital Cytomegalovirus

The purpose of this research study is to determine whether treating pregnant women who have a primary CMV infection with CMV antibodies will reduce the number of babies infected with CMV. The research study is funded by the National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). Fourteen medical centers across the country are participating in this research study. In all, 800 pregnant women who are identified with a primary CMV infection will be enrolled in this research study. National Cytomegalovirus Registry for Pregnant Women

The purpose of National Cytomegalovirus Registry for Pregnant Women is to develop a database of nearly all pregnant women in the U.S. who develop a congenital infection during pregnancy. This database will establish the true frequency of this infection nationally, determine the interventions used, monitor the outcomes of live born infants with a congenital CMV infection and provide a specimen repository for investigators. National Congenital CMV Disease Registry

National Congenital CMV Disease Registry is a research program working to learn more about children born with symptoms of congenital CMV disease. This national surveillance program tracks trends over time, identifies risk groups, and lays groundwork for evaluation of future intervention programs. Baylor College of Medicine CMV Vaccine Study

This study is evaluating a new CMV vaccine that may be used to prevent CMV infection in teenage girls. The first step is to have a simple blood test to screen your blood for the presence of CMV antibodies. This test will determine if you have ever had CMV, and will determine if you can go on to the next step of the study. The second step of the study is the actual testing of the CMV vaccine.
